Focusing on improving the Matchmaking system.

The matchmaking system of Dota 2 has been adjusted again. Valve has released another update to improving the matchmaking experience for several players, addressing key issues that arose from the most drastic change since the advent of the game.

Among the issues noted were high MMR party queues, solo and party matchup combinations, a rework of the medal system, and the new addition of a post-match evaluation that informs players of statistics like the average queue time and behavior score.

From now on, if one of the party members is either Divine or Immortal, every player in that party will be considered the same rank as the highest player in that party.

A party of five will now only be able to face other parties of five players. The same applies to the so-called “solo queue”. Every single solo player will now only ever be considered for matches against at most one party of two.

This section includes various bug removals regarding matchmaking. However, the crucial part is that Valve will try to prevent the support players from being the highest MMR player in a game. According to them, this is due to the negative feedback from the community.

Finally, Valve decided its high time to return to the five-star medals instead of seven. Of course, this also means that the MMR range for the medals will be rebalanced.
