Dota Auto Chess has reached the next milestone: 5 million subscribers.

There seems no stopping to the hypetrain that is Dota Auto Chess. Merely a week and a half after acquiring an impressive 4 million subscribers in the Steam Workshop, the Dota 2 mod has reached the next milestone: 5 million subscribers.

Launched in January this year, Dota Auto Chess quickly began dragging in strategy lovers left and right. The fresh combination of strategy, the Dota universe and a good balance between action and downtime proved to be a perfect recipe, especially for those tired of stale metas and quiet periods in games like Dota 2 and Hearthstone.

Although the development team at Drodo Studio consists only of five people, Auto Chess is being regularly updated. Just yesterday changes were implemented to combat a sudden explosion of hackers, in addition to three new pieces joining the game mode.

Fans have a lot to look forward to too, content-wise. The developers have expressed their desire to ultimately include every Dota 2 hero in Auto Chess. To put that in perspective: currently the roster has just under 60 pieces, whereas Dota 2 features 120 heroes. However, with Auto Chess' rapid growth in population, it's not unthinkable Valve steps in and acquires the mod before all Dota heroes are even included.
