Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström has stepped down as head coach of FaZe Clan, the organization confirmed Sunday. RobbaN ends a three-year stint with FaZe, leaving a long and trophy-rich legacy behind.

RobbaN joined FaZe Clan in February 2016, taking his first job as a coach and his first gig in CS:GO in general. His entire first year was uneventful but by mid 2017, FaZe Clan started putting up results, also fueled by the arrivals of Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer and Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács.

With RobbaN at the coaching helm, FaZe three LAN championships in 2017 and played in the finals of five more. Even without putting up good results in that year’s Majors (top 8 at ELEAGUE Atlanta and top 16 at PGL Krakow), FaZe remained in the conversation for the best team of 2017.

FaZe and RobbaN did their best to keep the tempo going in 2018 too, but the oncoming of the Astralis era made that difficult. FaZe’s top shelf appearances included silver from the Boston Major and IEM XII World Championship and first places from IEM Sydney and EPICENTER, and a number of top 4 LAN finishes. According to RobbaN’s message, however, it was the calling of family life that made him step down. He’s also not leaving FaZe entirely, merely shifting roles.

“I became a dad for the second time back in September and the traveling has been very hard for me. It has been hard to coach and still be the father I want to be. However, I will still work in FaZe, I will have a different role that I will announces later in January.”

FaZe are yet to announce who will take the head coach positions, though reports suggest it might be analyst-gone-coach Janko “YNk” Paunovic. Paunovic recently left a coaching gig with MIBR and might be joining FaZe alongside Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev.
